Bookkeeping Cleanup & Reconciliation

Daxable helps US property managers and business owners catch up overdue bookkeeping, investigate unexplained balances and reconcile their accounts. We review the records first, agree the periods and deliverables, then work toward a documented handoff for monthly bookkeeping or your CPA.

Know what is missing, what is resolved and what comes next.

First, understand the condition of the books

A growing backlog can hide duplicates, missing transfers and balances that no longer make sense. We review the accounting file and available statements to establish the periods, missing records and likely work.

Reconcile the accounts

We compare available bank, card, loan and other agreed account records with the ledger. Differences are investigated and documented; an unexplained adjustment is not a substitute for supporting records.

Keep the operating detail

For property managers, cleanup may involve company books, owner balances, deposits and property records. Contractors may need job costs, billing and retainage detail. We agree the source records and reporting structure before changing them.

Hand over records you can follow

You receive the agreed reconciliations, supporting schedules and an open-items list. We explain the remaining questions and coordinate the bookkeeping handoff to your team or CPA.

Let’s find out what your books need.

Bring the accounting system, periods behind, approximate account count and your immediate deadline. We will identify the records needed for a scoped review; do not send passwords or full bank records through a public form.

Discuss My Books Cleanup

From the first conversation to a clear handoff.

Milestones are agreed around your records, access and team availability.

  1. Review the file and backlog

Identify overdue periods, the accounts involved and the records available.

  2. Agree the cleanup scope

Set deliverables, responsibilities, missing-record requests and milestones based on the review.

  3. Reconcile and resolve

Work through agreed periods, investigate differences and ask for decisions on unclear items.

  4. Review and hand over

Explain reconciliations and remaining questions, then agree the ongoing bookkeeping or CPA handoff.

A strong fit when

  • You are several months behind and need a defined recovery plan
  • Your statements and ledger do not agree
  • You need supporting records before a CPA or management review
  • You can provide records and approve the treatment of unclear items

Another provider may be a better fit when

  • You need a tax return, audit or compliance opinion
  • You want missing records replaced with guesses
  • You require a fixed completion date before the file is reviewed

Questions before a discovery call.

Is cleanup the same as monthly bookkeeping?

No. Cleanup addresses agreed historical periods and unresolved records. Monthly bookkeeping maintains the ongoing close. Daxable can scope both, with the cleanup and recurring responsibilities stated separately.

How much does bookkeeping cleanup cost?

Cleanup is quoted after reviewing the periods, accounts, available records, transaction volume and complexity. The monthly bookkeeping starting price does not automatically include historical cleanup.

How far back can you clean up our books?

Tell us which periods need attention. Feasibility and timing depend on the accounting records, statements and supporting documents available. We confirm the periods in the scope after review.

Can you help with AppFolio and QuickBooks discrepancies?

Daxable can scope reconciliations using available AppFolio reports or exports alongside client-owned accounting records. Discovery establishes which system owns each record and which balances can be compared at the same cutoff date.

Will cleanup make our books ready for tax filing?

The engagement can include organized bookkeeping records and supporting schedules for your CPA. Your qualified tax professional determines tax treatment, return preparation and filing requirements.

What if some documents are missing?

We identify the missing items, explain which work can proceed and keep unresolved questions visible. We do not promise a complete reconstruction when the underlying evidence is unavailable.

Can you take over the monthly books afterward?

Yes. After assessing the historical work, Daxable can propose a separate recurring bookkeeping scope with account responsibilities, source records and a monthly close schedule.
